Recently laid off and get alot of movies off mininova. I would literally cry if I had to pay to see half of these movies. Step Brothers, Get Smart, The Ruins, and the most recent xfiles. How do these movies make it to production? Step Brothers was like working to get through the entire thing. I grew up watching xfiles, and the most recent movie was like a watered down Law and Order, there was nothing xfilish about it. Makes you wonder how bad the movies that go directly to DVD really are? Are there any new movies worth watching?
The evolution of technology has brought about many changes. It has taken us from the period of analog videos and gramophones to DVDs and CDs. The entertainment industry is booming and the demands for this type of entertainment are also on the rise. But, it is sad to say that the industry has been highly affected as piracy is on the rise with the development of different copying programs. Therefore, there are various copying rules you should abide by. Be sure that you are exercising your fair user rights under the copyright law of your country and not violating any local copyright law.
Copying DVDs is illegal. There are no specific copying rules for protecting theft, misuse and trade secret of intellectual property in the entertainment industry. The entertainment industry has been slow to embrace technology because of concerns about piracy. DVD copying cannot be stopped totally because copying programs such as the DeCSS, manufactured by 321 STUDIOS of US, are widely available.
Initially, Hollywood started protecting their movies by encrypting the movie with a system called the Content Scrambling System, with the effect that the DVD could only be read. This subsequently led to the release of the DeCSS software, which enables a computer to decrypt the disc, even without a license key.
After the Hollywood studios sued to keep DeCSS offline, it was ultimately agreed that posting the software online violated parts of the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, related to the rule that bars distribution of tools that break through digital copy protection mechanisms.
The current rule that was introduced by the California Supreme Court is that a web publisher can be barred from posting DVD-copying code online without stepping on his free speech rights.
Another rule is that web publishers are banned from posting the DeCSS software, which can be used to help decrypt and copy DVDs, thereby violating the First Amendment rights. An industry coalition, the DVD Copy Control Association had sued a number of people engaged in posting the software online violating its trade secret rights.
Recently the Federal Communications Commission approved DVD copying rules and regulations that would require television manufacturers to include anti-copying technology in the next generation of televisions. The technology would identify programs that broadcasters do not want consumers to copy without first paying a fee.
Lawmakers are considering a Bill that would require all digital devices and software that runs them to include a copyright protection system. This is another rule that can prevent your consumers from making unauthorized copies of music, movies, and television programs.
Professors of film studies are granted with the permission to copy extracts from DVDs, under the fair-use provisions. This new rule for these professors gives them the right to break the CSS copy protection that is installed in most DVD discs.
One of the major copying rules is that before you make a copy of any copyrighted DVD, you need to obtain permission to copy from the copyright owner. Unless you own the copyright or hold permission to copy, you may be violating copyright law and may be subject to payment of damages and other remedies.
Since it first aired in late 1999, The West Wing has been one of the most popular drama series on TV. Hollywood veteran Martin Sheen plays the lead role of President Jed Bartlet in this show which chronicles daily events in the life of a president. The daily operations of Bartlet’s White House are run by varying individuals such as Claudia “C.J.” Cregg (Allison Janney), Sam Seaborn (Rob Lowe), Leo McGarry (John Spencer), Josh Lyman (Bradley Whitford), Toby Ziegler (Richard Schiff), and Charlie Young (Dule Hill). The West Wing focuses on these loyal attendants as they work around-the-clock to keep the White House running smoothly. In so doing, the stresses of the job and various personal hardships make for a voyeuristic glimpse into what many believe to be an accurate snap-shot of White House working life…
The West Wing (Season 3) DVD offers a number of dramatic episodes including the season premiere “Manchester: Part 1″ in which C.J. mistakenly reveals during her press conference that President Bartlet suffers from a medical condition, prompting an onslaught of media attention regarding the president’s health. In gearing up to spin the revelation, the staffers discuss whether or not Bartlet should apologize to the nation for failing to reveal the problem. Meanwhile, Abbey is not pleased when she learns that Jed has decided to run for re-election… Other notable episodes from Season 3 include “The Indians in the Lobby” in which a pair of Indians announce their plans to stand in the lobby of the Department of Interior until they receive an answer on their 15-year-old application to buy back lost Indian lands, and “Hartsfield’s Landing” in which the staffers begin to execute their presidential primary strategy (beginning in New Hampshire) in their plan to win Bartlet’s re-election…

The world is technologically undergoing a rapid development. A lot of advancements have occurred in every field. With the increased reliance of businesses on automated systems, data conversion services have become a necessity. It is the process of converting one form of data into another form, so that new features can be integrated into the existing system.
There are two main processes involved in data conversion services, Replication and Duplication.
DVD Duplication can be defined as the copying or burning of the contents of one DVD to multiple copies. The DVD duplication process is quite similar to burning a DVD on your personal computer. A DVD duplicator extracts data from the master disc and writes it to a blank disc.
DVD Replication is the manufacturing process that essentially replicates or carbon copies your original master. In replication, a glass master is created which stamps data onto the DVDs while in duplication process, the data is burned on recordable DVDs surfaces. These replicated CDs or DVDs will have the same touch and finish as the original. This ensures that you get the highest quality at the lowest of prices.
Although both replication and duplication process produce the same outcome, but the difference lies when it comes to the manufacturing process or the quantities of CDs/DVDs to be replicated. DVD replication is often useful for runs of 1,000 units and over. For projects that require less than 1,000 unites, DVD duplication would be your best choice.
As DVD Replication is continuing to dominate the market, a lot of innovative and efficient techniques have been developed in the DVD replication field. One of such technique is the dual layer DVD replication. If you want to store a large amount of data or huge number of files on a DVD, you might not able to do it due to space limitation of DVD but dual layer DVD replication allows you to do that. DVD-9 is a single-side double-layer DVD format that has playtime almost double that of a DVD-5. DVD players are designed to play DVD-9 without the need to flip the disc and they should play a DVD-9 just the normal way to play a DVD-5. The playtime for DVD-9 is about 4 hours. Therefore it is recommended to use DVD-9 if your video is longer than 2 hours. Most Hollywood movies also use DVD-9 format because DVD-9 can hold much longer video in better quality and is more difficult to copy. Even most of the Hollywood movies are copied on DVD-9 as it offers a larger place for copying data and information with the same great quality.
Many new formats are being released like Blu-Ray and HD/DVD that will increase the capacity of a disc. Blu-Ray Disc can be called the next generation of optical disc. It was developed by Blu-Ray Disc Association. It is ideal for storing large amounts of data, exceeding previous DVD-R disc storage capabilities. It can hold more than 5 times the amount of information that a traditional DVD can hold, up to 25GB single layer, and up to 50GB dual layer.
Then there are the HD-DVD discs. HD-DVD is an acronym for High Definition Versatile Discs or High Definition Digital Video Discs. They are quite similar to the Blu-Ray discs. The HD-DVD can store 15GB single layer and 30GB double layer, making their storage capacity 10GB per layer smaller than the Blu-Ray. But Toshiba, its makers, has announced a triple layer disc that can hold 45GB of information.
As both these DVDs are expected to rule the DVD industry in future, Blu-Ray DVD Replication and HD-DVD Replication techniques are also in great demand now-a-days. Taking this into account, many companies offer Blu-Ray DVD and HD-DVD replication along with the regular DVD replication services.
Blu-ray discs are very reliable and can last more than 15 years. There are no replacement costs as well because Blu-ray replication technology does not get outdated. So this replication method is quite cost effective. Also there is no need of purchasing special cartridges to hold the hard coated disc as it can be used like any other regular DVD.
There is a new advancement in HD-DVD replication which is known as FlexDVD. This is an ultra thin disc, only 0.6 mm in thickness. It is quite flexible as can be bent without any damage to the disc. It is half as thick as a regular DVD and also is resistant to breaking and cracking, so FlexDVD can easily be used in direct mail or as a cover mount on a magazine or manual.
No doubt, these newly evolving DVD Replication techniques are the future of the data conversion market.
(C) 1984, a Zang Tuum Tumb original, ZTIS 119, released 28 May 1984. Directed by Godley & Creme. Out now! The official Frankie Goes To Hollywood DVD, ‘Hard On’, at www.ztt.com/shop.
Do you think the Clinton campaign has anything to do with this not being released on DVD? Is Hollywood trying to protect their beloved candidate? Would they really sink that low?
Good thing Moore was able to put his trash on DVD for the masses
Hmm, well it had more than 28 million viewers and 7 Emmy nominations. The Clinton group originally tried to keep it from being broadcast but failed. I can see the link…
Before I get tackled by the conservatives on here, I’m not actually promoting we do this. I just think it’s funny that the most wasteful people in the world (hollywood in general) are the one’s promoting that we all cut down on carbon emissions.
Fine, we’ll cut down on carbon emissionsm, but I still need to go to work and feed the kids. So I’ll just turn off the TV, stop going to concerts, and since the TV is turned off I don’t need to buy any DVD movies. Hey I’m going to save a lot of money on this deal and I’ll be saving the environment!
