Nominated for a single Emmy in its short three season stint, Wonder Woman – which premiered in 1976 – was the third attempt by the major networks to bring the popular comic book character to TV. Created as the result of a collaboration between the multi-talented William M. Marston and DC Comics publisher Maxwell Gaines, Wonder Woman made her world premiere in a 1941 comic book. The final product of Gaines’ request for a female comic book hero, Marston never lived to see his creation become a television star (he died prematurely from skin cancer in 1947), but his legacy lives on through the Wonder Woman franchise which continues to entertain worldwide audiences to this day…
Wonder Woman follows the exploits of the Amazonian princess, Diana, who leaves her Paradise Island home in order to bring justice to the world of men. Athletic and intelligent, Diana Prince (as she’s known to the outside world) also possesses special powers that are brought about when she whirls around to transform into Wonder Woman. Her magic belt gives her added strength, her metallic bracelets deflect bullets, and her tiara doubles as a boomerang… In addition, she’s aided by a magic golden lasso which forces her captives to tell the truth! Season 1 of Wonder Woman takes place during the era of World War II where the Allies enlist the help of the female superhero to defeat the Nazis, while Seasons 2 and 3 take place in modern day times (1977-1978)…
The Wonder Woman DVD features a number of exciting episodes including the series premiere “Wonder Woman Meets Baroness Von Gunther” in which Col. Steve Trevor – the same man who crash-landed on Wonder Woman’s home island, and thus prompted her to enter the world of men – is accused of sabotaging a series of missions under his command. Charged with treason and espionage, Trevor can only have his name cleared by Wonder Woman who uncovers a vast conspiracy by **** sympathizers… Other notable episodes from Season 1 include “The Pluto File” in which Wonder Woman must apprehend an Irish-born spy who steals an American-made machine that controls earthquakes, and “Formula 407″ in which Wonder Woman travels to Mexico in order to recover a secret formula stolen by the *****…

A sequel to the 1994 movie Stargate, Stargate SG-1 is one of the premiere science-fiction series on television. First airing in July 1997, the show has been nominated for 7 Emmys and 23 Saturn Awards. The brainchild of creator Dean Devlin, producer of such Hollywood blockbusters as Independence Day (1996) and The Patriot (2000), Stargate SG-1 chronicles the further adventures of the Stargate Command (SGC) as Earth and its citizens advance forward into a new era of space exploration in the aftermath of Dr. Daniel Jackson’s discovery of the galaxy’s numerous stargates…
Stargate SG-1 follows the exploits of the SG-1 Unit (i.e. the “explorer” unit) of Stargate Command. When a new code is broken that reveals the location of stargates throughout the galaxy, Earth and its inhabitants are given the ability to travel through time to any point they wish instantaneously. Earth’s military sends out stargate (SG) teams to scour the universe for new technologies, new planets, and methods of defense against the oppressive Goa’uld. Brigadier General Jonathan “Jack” O’Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) is the commanding officer of SG-1. He’s accompanied by Dr. Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks), the brilliant professor whose investigations originally helped uncover the existence of the stargates, and fellow teammates Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) and Teal’c (Christopher Judge). Together, they face numerous obstacles as they attempt to uncover the many mysteries of the universe…
The Stargate SG-1 DVD features a number of exciting episodes including the series premiere “Children of the Gods” in which the System Lord Apophis launches an attack via the stargate, hidden by Earth’s military following the events of the original film. Earth orders a counterattack to find and destroy the alien invaders. Colonel Jack O’Neill comes out of retirement, tasked with the mission of locating Dr. Daniel Jackson on Abydos… Other notable episodes from Season 1 include “Brief Candle” in which Jack becomes infected with the rapid aging indigenous to the people of Argos, and “Tin Man” in which the team members of SG-1 are knocked unconscious only to find that they are robots when they awake…

Nominated for 25 Golden Globes and 110 Emmys, including 7 for Outstanding Drama Series, ER has long been one of the best prime-time shows on television. Premiering in September 1994 on NBC, the hour-long hospital drama vividly illustrates the intensity and fast-paced stress endemic to hospital emergency rooms across America. Brought into being by Michael Crichton – famous Hollywood insider, novelist, and brains behind such films as Jurassic Park, Twister, and Timeline – ER fulfills its creator’s ultimate vision (it took over a decade of pitching the show before network executives bit) for a close-to-life glimpse of the technology and the humanity omnipresent in the ER. Since its inception, many cast members have passed through the halls of ER, many of them having gone on to become big stars in Hollywood…
ER follows the exploits of a group of emergency room staff who work in a busy Chicago hospital. The show attempts to examine every detail of the ER experience. From the exhilaration of saving a life to the tedium caused by mountains of paperwork, all the highs and lows are covered. In the show’s first year, a number of regular faces staffed the ER. Doctors Mark Greene (Anthony Edwards), Peter Benton (Eriq La Salle), Douglas Ross (George Clooney), and Susan Lewis (Sherri Stringfield) were regulars in the ER along with Head Nurse Carol Hathaway (Julianna Margulies) and Benton’s medical student understudy (and later ER doctor), John Carter (Noah Wyle)… Any given episode tends to run multiple plot lines throughout the show, interweaving scenes in short snippets intended to heighten audience emotion and create the aura of a stress-laden atmosphere. The show’s high drama, coupled with subplots of the staffers’ personal lives and the display of cutting edge medical technology, combine to make ER one of most adrenaline-inducing programs in television history…
The ER DVD features a number of dramatic episodes including the series premiere “24 Hours” in which a long day in the ER is made longer when multiple casualties pour through the doors following the collapse of a building and medical students report for training (marking the first appearance for John Carter’s character). Meanwhile, Dr. Benton performs a heart surgery normally reserved only for senior staff members while the staff is struck with a personal tragedy when Head Nurse Carol Hathaway is brought in following a ******* attempt… Other notable episodes from Season 1 include “Blizzard” in which a major snowstorm first leads to an empty ER and then (following a 40-car pileup) one with overflowing capacity, and “House of Cards” in which, while trying to keep up with Carter, Deb nearly causes a patient’s death…

Guy O Scott asked:
The cost of movie tickets is taking a lot of fun out of the video viewing experience. Thank our lucky stars for the advent of exciting DVD rental services. Where would we be without these reliable providers of contemporary and traditional movies? As the DVD rental service industry grows, so does the list of suspect providers. Smart consumers know what to look for in a provider.
There are five essential and prudent criteria that should be used to evaluate a DVD rental service; ordering process, selection, delivery platform, return service and DVD information services are the key components that can enhance or diminish the DVD rental experience. A customer will obviously be happy and satisfied if the merchant deals with these issues.
If you like DVDs, you will want an efficient, accurate and reliable ordering process. You don’t want to have to deal with ordering mishaps. A solid DVD provider addresses this issue head on by offering an easy access ordering system with reliable feedback and an ordering verification program. Most stalwart online DVD services also provide significant membership incentive programs.
What good is a great ordering system without an expansive inventory? Make sure your new service has a steady flow of current titles and that they offer the type audio-video content you will use. Any service with a selection of less than 80,000 DVDs is sub par.
At the heart of a reputable online movie service is the delivery system. Again, this component must be quick, reliable and efficient. The consumer should seek a provider that stands behind their delivery system. Most creditable internet movie rental companies furnish a 1 or 2 day delivery mechanism. You don’t have to settle for less.
As most services require a return before more DVDs can be obtained, it is absolutely essential to have an easy-access return service. The prudent consumer makes sure they know the DVD rental service’s return policy and that it is manageable for their needs.
There are many great movies and DVDs. Reviews of the different movies are a definite “plus” at most DVD rental services. This information service embellishes the selection experience. The consumer should insist upon relevant reviews and DVD ratings.
As highly revered as the experience can be, there are also bad experiences lurking out there. With easy accessibility to verifiable reviews and references, there is no reason not to select a DVD rental provider that satisfies every household member. At today’s rates, DVD rental services are fast becoming a household staple. Use these guidelines to build a relationship that brings Hollywood, Broadway, Cannes and Sundance right to your door. Happy viewing!
