metz asked:

I would like to know what different features are available and where I can get the best deal. I want to make sure that it can be programmed to record from tv and that it is easy to access particular shows after they have been recorded. I also want to be able to copy dvds, if possible, with the one dvd recorder. (I know with vcrs you needed 2) Trying to find something for a good deal. No more than $100 for sure. Any ideas?

Under $100 is difficult if you want anything that will do what you want. If your willing to go a bit over $100 look into the Lite-on LVW-5445. It records and plays DVD+ an – DVDR and DVDRW and also has a 160 gig hard drive which you can record to directly then copy to a DVD at your leisure.
Recording from DVD to another is not as simple, if the DVD your copying from is copy-protected. To do this you’ll need a simple device that attaches between the to DVD units and remove the copy protection. These device cost from $50 to $100. Optionally you can take the copy protected DVD and use your comp to rip it.
